How did you start on your spiritual path?

Chris_ernie_hymn

My father is a retired Baptist minister which by age 6 or 7 embarassed me as I learned the concept of Greek Myth at school and it suddenly hit me that my entire family culture was based on myth.  I did not much warm up to living breathing soul until I almost died of Malaria at age 17, and went through the tunnel to light.  After that the problem is that the concrete world and the ego-self world so often just do not seem real and i have to struggle to engage the concrete as real and stuggle to trust my sensory perceptions as 'real' or my ego hurts as valid when 'abused' by others.
Someone please advise me on how to some days get OFF this 'spiritual journey' and grovel in blinders ego gluttony!  :)

What have you learned from moving?

Datura_oct_21
I am moving to a new house in December and will be a sole home owner for the first time.  I have rented the past 10 years.  Anxious: about the tiling that needs doing, the unfit fireplace, the wobbling back porch, the old windows.  Anxious about projects I do not yet even know about.  Anxious about moving on.
Meanwhile the Datura in my living room today is in blossom like never before.  Oblivious to my worry.  Growing and glowing toward light and warmth and water.

When I let you in.
When I let go pride.
When I do not try to retort, but listen.

What have you overvalued in life?

Multidrug_od_cartoon
Funny question right this moment because I just drew a cartoon for a Toxicologist depicting 'the multisubstance overdose'.
Some of the substances which are most treacherous in over indulgence are the most beautiful in blossom.
So yes, value of a thing is in the interconnection and not to be 'over' or 'under'

Lets see.... what have I personally overvalued:  urban life.
Cities.
Why am I still living in a city?
What incredible value I must overly put on urban stuff to still be here in the web of asphalt and glitter and neon and chrome.

What do you do when you have a day off?

Halo7
A day off what?
:)

..ooo the '7th day he rested'  thing?

Well I guess when I remember to look around in awe and wonder and see that it is good, that becomes a day 'off' no matter what I am 'doing'.
